Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Got two pairs of headphones today to review. This is the low end of the two and there is a definite difference when you double the price. I found these to be very muddled compared to the Onkyo ES-FC300(R) On-Ear Headphones, Red that just arrived. Yes, heavy bass for sure, probably the best part of the TH-2000-S. The mids and highs seemed veiled, almost like you can hear another song in the background. Switching back to the Onkyo's the difference is so big its like you are listening to two different songs. I can't really recommend this headset in this price range. I'd rather go with something like the Sennheiser PX 100-II On Ear Miniheadphone (Black) for the same price that won't have the same bass but overall will be a much better sounding headphone or the Pioneer SE-M390 High Performance Ported AV Over-Ear Headphones (Black) which is a little more, has as much bass and isn't as veiled, a "fun" to listen to set of headphones.Pros
Seem well built
Include option for regular or mini headphone plug
Heavy bass for those that like
Carrying case
Cons
Veiled mids and highs, sounds muffled
Neutral
Old fashioned coiled cord

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program It was such a disappointment to listen to a pair of headphones that appear so studio-like and bear the good TASCAM (TEAC Corp.) name because the 'professional grade' or studio-like impression dissipated as soon as I listened to the sound.DESIGN AND ERGONOMICS
No matter how good headphones may sound that wouldn't matter much if wearing them was awkward or uncomfortable. TASCAM's TH-2000-S are just Okay but not as good as I expected. A little on the heavy side, they seem to be squeezing my head just a tad more than I'd be comfortable with. It's tolerable but not comfortable.
I am not going to say much about 'looks'. They do look good, in a private room listening setting context. In fact they look better than they wear.
THE SOUND (dull, dull, dull)
And here is the problem. There's no spark, not one hint of brilliance. The sound is dull, even slightly muffled to the degree that I doubt the 18 Hz to 22 kHz official frequency response and the declared 101 dB +/3 dB sensitivity. To say that I was disappointed is a slight understatement.
The large earpieces are responsible for some pretty good outside noise insulation which is a good thing but... see the paragraph above.
I will list the official specs below and specs are good but they seem to be at some variation with what I hear:
THE SPECS AND WHAT'S IN THE BOX
The headphones come very nicely packaged in a nice box that includes the headphones with the cable permanently attached and a nice black faux leather bag.
And here are the specs:
Drive Diameter: 53mm
Impedance: 60 Ohm
Sensitivity: 101 dB +/3
Frequency Response: 18 Hz 22 kHz
Max Power: 1800 mW
Cable Length: 5 ft, Coiled Cable 13 ft when fully extended
The cable ends with a screw-on 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter.
RATING
All my disappointments expressed above are just a little bit out of context, considering the relatively low price. The price saves the day and adds one star to my out of price context 2-star rating.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I fully admit that I am lost when it comes to writing about many audio products. I am an audio consumer who is content with a great many things that seems to bother others. I just want to listen to my music and my audiobooks comfortably. These headphones manage both of those simple requirements. Since I seem to burn through ear/headphones at a rapid rate, either through loss or rough handling, another requirement is definitely a good price.I have really come to hate earbuds. I really don't like sticking them in my ear and have found them to become increasingly uncomfortable, so I have switched to headphones for several years now whenever I am going to listen to the I-Pod for more than 15 minutes. The last set of headphones I purchased cost more than twice what this pair costs and in a blind "taste test," I honestly can't tell the difference between the two. My music sounds clear and great in both. I rarely use the equalizer function of the I-Pod because it burns up battery life, so what comes out is what I get and everything sounds pretty good to me in these Tascams. I would probably be blown away by how much better a set of headphones sound which cost several hundred dollars but I can say with reasonable certainty that I will never own a pair of those, so these are just the ticket.
I have also found these headphones to be comfortable because they fit well on my big 7 3/4 size head. I have fallen asleep with these on and have slept for hours without any discomfort.
Although I am not tuned in to the intricacies of audio listening, I can say with great confidence that these headphones are pretty good for the price and should make anybody who is looking for a reasonably priced alternative to earbuds pretty happy.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program If you're an audiophile, you're not even going to consider $50 headphones. So for the people who are going to buy this product, they aren't really going to notice that the sound quality isn't the best. It's good enough. The label "professional grade" is a bit dubious, but otherwise, I have no issues with these. I already have a pair of Sennheiser headphones that are superior, but (since I'm not an audiophile) for most purposes, these headphones are just fine. They are well built, have a surprisingly welcome pad for resting on top of your head, and a screw-on 1/4" adapter. They fit well enough, certainly not as comfortable as more expensive headphones, but given the price, this is a decent product. You get what you pay for, and for $50, you can expect good but not great.Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program These headphones really seem to be built pretty well, so it is with some regret that I have to report that I don't like them.
The sound reproduction is not flat, and it has a distinct bass heaviness that I can't use when recording or mixing. In addition to the bass-heavy delivery, there seems to be a dip in the upper mids, a boost in the low mids, and a rolling off of the high end. This just doesn't work for me in the studio. The overall size of the headphones is large and they won't fit well for people with smaller heads. I had some people try them on and they all stated that the earpieces went down too far and didn't fit on their ears properly. I checked to make sure that they were retracted to their smallest size and they were.
This is a shame, as TASCAM make some fine products and are a good name. I have owned four DA-88 recorders, many field recorders, and three different portable recorders from them, all of which have been great. I am certainly not saying anything bad about the company, but their headphones are just put out there to be low-priced headphones that are not suited to a professional studio.
I have used the Sony MDR7506 Professional Large Diaphragm Headphone [Electronics] for decades now and I still recommend them. I have had the same pairs for over 20 years and they are all still going strong, barring replacing the ear padding. The Sony headphones do not cost a tremendous amount more, and they are worth every penny if you are doing studio work.
I would also recommend the AKG K 240 MK II Stereo Studio Headphones or AKG K 240 Semi-Open Studio Headphones over the TASCAM reviewed here. The AKG perform much better when you are using a headphone amplifier though, so that would need to be taken into account.
