As a person who used to have a couple pairs of the American Audio HP 700's, I discovered all the cool color options with the HP 550's (I actually like the all pleather stitched headband better too) The components for sound and quality of plastics are IDENTICAL between the HP 550/700. Will stick with the 550's from now on because I think they're cheaper in price.
