I am a veteran violin player who have been playing violin for more than ten years. Decided to pick an silent violin up as a practice violin in the middle of night with earphone. I already spent too much on my acoustic violin and that one is still going to stay as my primary violin so was not planning to put big money in and that's why I choose this one, before I order it I think at least it pleases my eyes.It arrived very quickly and was well packaged. The moment I got it I took out the no-brand string and put on Helicore strings that I ordered at the same time with this violin, paired with my own headphone it actually sounds pretty good, but do note the combined price of my headphone and strings already cost almost twice of this violin, and of course it doesn't produce sound any close to a Stradivari, but it is definitely not just a saw either.
The build in preamp does got the job done but I do notice some distortion if I jack the volume and tone to max, but this if my first electric violin so i do not know if it is normal. The bow that comes with it definitely felt cheap, but a good bow itself would cost way more than this violin so no complain about that.
For the price I paid everything was up to expectation, one thing I need to complain is the groove on the top of the fingerboard was way off on my violin that I need to readjust the string position by myself before it is in playable condition. The violin doesn't stay in tune very well, but it is a new violin with new string so it is expected, I will be putting some peg drop which should fix the problem.
In conclusion for the price I paid I think it totally worth my money, but I would not recommend anybody to pick it up as their first violin just because it cost less. It is a good backup/play around/screw around violin, for people who are starting to play violin I would recommend to get a good beginner violin at higher price (at least 300 I would say)that requires less setup to get it in good playable condition.
Buy VIOLINSMART BLACK Solid Wood Advance Electric Violin crescent shape Now
Shipping was quite fast for someone like me that lives outside the USThe Wood, the body and the quality of the paint are great, no stains, no grains in the paint
for an electric violin it has good sound to play it unplugged thus making it a silent violin to be use at night and such
The strings are ok, use them, depleted their live, good to practice then you can change them to something better
the bow is really cheap, I use my own bow from my acoustic violin, I will be purchasing a new one soon for this one
The look and Feel of this violin (personal opinion) is simply great, Stylish and elegant.
The earphones are totally useless, since the Violin is quite loud even without being plug the earphone that comes with this are totally useless and pretty cheap.
I bought sennheiser but still the experience will be with a guitar AMP
Overall for the price and everything this is an awesome product for a Middle level Violinist.
