first off I bought, own and love my Eden WT550 at FULL PRICE, about $1300 several years ago. I own two "head" amps one is my eden. the other is a Thunderfunk 550. I love the Eden world tour amp tone and controls flexibility. if you want a thick commanding bass tone, you MUST check out eden world tour amps. I'm am not a super committed musician, but I know great bass tone when I hear it. Eden world tour amps hit that mark very often in my book.

because of my HDADHD (joke kinda) I will not go into alot, if any technical detail, but I will tell you from the bottom of my heart will kick alot of butt and hold its own against fender, ampeg, swr, and it will fit in comfortably with greater brands like aguilar, sadowsky, etc. paired with some decent cabs, I'd recommend aguilar, bergantino or epifani. people, even people who don't know why things sound good will make compliments.

I run my wt550 with bergantion ht112+ex112+aguilar gs112 cabs and my fellow musicians love it.

If I ever get rid of this amp for any reason other than to never play bass again.... I SHOULD BE SHOT DEAD! seriously!

thats how much I love this amp. and at $600..something its an awesome bargain!

If you play something other than Eden it is simply because the legendary tone isn't your style. If it is for any other reason.....

I have been an Eden player for quite some time and have tried many others. This amp is the stuff dreams are made of.

The WT-550 is a great sounding amplifier, straight out of the box. you have to do very little tweaking or eq-ing to find an amazing, warm, powerful sound. The size is a little inconvenient, because you have to use rack mount ears to rack mount the amp, and they can be cantankerous to attach if you don't have the right length screws (Eden supplies the ears, but not the screws to mount them to the sides of the amp).

The main problem I've had is with the reliability of the amp. Mine is my number one playing amp, which I use every weekend. I have owned it for approximately 8 months, purchased new. About 2 months ago, it started having problems where it just stops putting out sound without warning. It is totally random but started happening each show where the amp just died in the middle of a set power still on to the unit but no sound coming out of cabinet or XLR to the board. The amp is cool to the touch when this happens and shows no warning led's or limit flashes and does not appear to be thermalling out, as I use a relatively low stage volume, do not push the EQ, and set the input gain low according to Eden's recommendations. The only solution is to turn it off for a few hours and then it works fine. sometime it works for an hour or more, sometimes it conks out after 5 minutes of sound check. I shipped the amp (at my own expenseEden would not reimburse) to an Eden authorized warranty center who had it for several weeks, only to be told that they could not find anything wrong and could not replicate the problem. they "tightened up" "some connections" and shipped it back to me. I tried using the amp at a show again last night after getting it back, and it conked out again on me in the middle of the second set. At this point, I am going to contact Eden and demand they send me a replacement unit, although I do not now know if I could ever trust another Eden amplifier.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend purchasing a WT-550. The amp sounds wonderful, but I can't rely on it to be there for me when I need it, which makes it worthless in my book. I will give Eden a chance to make it right, but do not have high hopes....

I've had my Eden WT550 head since early 2007. It's been incredibly reliable, with no issues of any kind. Heck I haven't even replaced the pre-amp tube, and it still sounds amazing.

My previous main amp was a Mesa Boogie Bass 400, which used to cost $150+ to re-tube every few years, the WT550 beats it in tone, reliability, portability.

Moving the Mesa around was always a bit of an exercise, its about ~50 lbs and due to its shape and weight you basically had to put it in a 4u+ case.

Meanwhile, the WT550 weighs about 19lbs and fits in most backpacks. I honestly can't tell you the number of times I've thrown that thing in a backpack and run to practice or a gig.

Additionally the WT550 comes with a bunch of Really Neat Things the Mesa did not; headphone out, balanced line out, etc, etc.

In terms of sound, when paired with a 410XLT and a 210XST it provides strong mids, with clear highs and incredibly deep lows. It definitely has a "modern" sound, so its not an SVT, but personally, I find that SVT tone to be a little boring (and somewhat played out.)

Per the Eden manual I tend to just set it flat and tune the EQ for the room, and it always just sounds awesome. Their manual is really well written, if you buy one of these I'd suggest reading the "setup" section at least, as its quite helpful.

All in all, I'm a huge fan of this amp, if it ever dies, it will be replaced by either another WT550, a WT400 (if I can find one...) or an WT800.
