This is my first Amazon review but when I saw the previous review I was compelled to add my thoughts. I can't speak to the problems the other person had but I love these. Previously I only used top of the line Sennheiser headphones but I wanted an earbud type for the gym. I read many reviews and although people seem to really like the sound quality of the Shure models, the IE-20 XB had two more things that were important to me besides excellent audio quality. One was comfort I was very concerned that earbuds would not be comfortable in my ears. But these really are! I have used them for long plane rides and they fit great. Secondly, the bass response is amazing. I can hear every detail of my music (and I listen to many different types of music).

These were my first experience with M-Audio products and I am buying another pair today for my wife.

So, depending on your budget, get these if you want excellent audio quality, great comfort, and serious bass response in your music.

I am a DJ and I needed something that would go in my ear for events where using regular DJ headphones were cumbersome. Once you get the IE-20 positioned into your ear canal right, the sounds quality is stellar and works great for cueing in a DJ situation.

One caveat though, is these earphones don't have a long slinky cord like you'd find on a pair of professional grade headphones. The IE-20 cable isn't very long, it is kinky, and gets tangled easily. If you step slightly away from the decks, you can bet on yanking at least one of the IE-20s out of your ear.

The IE-20s come with a carry case which is cool, but is almost too small to pack them in. They also come with several size ear buds, to allow you to make the perfect fit.

The sound quality is definetly suitable for even a professional environment.

Comfortable, light-weight, great sound, great with drums. The isolation level is great as well so you can hear just enough acoustic background noise when you're playing.

This pair seems to have all the known advantages of in ears and almost all disadvantages, except the bass. The fit is pretty comfortable. I find the "detachable cables"(and of course replaceable) a very good feature. Half the headphones that I've stopped using is due to damaged cables.

The foam tips that came with the set did not feel very comfortable. I used them for a while then tried takin em off, but they would not slip off easily, had to tear em apart :(. But well, m happy with the silicone tips.

16dB of isolation is quite a bit, make sure you don't wear it in an environment where that could turn out to be a disadvantage. M guessing -16dB would mean almost 3 (2.67 to be precise?) times softer. With music playing, it drowns out most of the ambient noise, when m waiting for the bus, I can't hear a single vehicle drive by, apart from "feeling" the occasional roar of a truck.

The frequency response of this pair is a little bass heavy, a lil too heavy for the music I listen to (not complaining, the product's doing what it was designed to do. Weird note on in ear headphones that they have too much bass :-p). Just wondering if I shdv spent a "lil" more to buy the IE30s which m told are slightly less bass heavy.

These in ear buds sound pretty decent but I only owned these for 9 months and under normal use (I'm a drummer and used these as my in ear monitor) the cords shorted out. All the documentation claims that the cords are detachable and replaceable but good luck finding them, they aren't made available. Same thing happened to our guitarists pair as well, his didn't even last as long as mine. $100 ear buds should probably last longer than 8 9 months.
