Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program First thing I noticed when I got this in the mail was the solid well constructed box with the magnetic latch which gives an impression of quality. The rest of the packaging requires some interaction; it's a bit like opening an artfully packaged present. Certainly makes you feel like you bought something good.

The headphones themselves really look black even though they're called black titanium and even though the photos make them look more like brushed metal. The metal is almost black and you can barely tell the sheen and grain are there. The wires are very thin and flat and feel like silicon. When wearing the phones, the wires' friction makes little noise compared to other phones I have used. The left side wire has a small remote control unit for volume, pause and play. On Apple devices all controls work. On Android only the pause and play worked for me.

These are the first in-ear headphones I have used that have a mic built in.

Along with the headphones you get a neat little rubber carrying pouch/purse which contains 24! ear buds of varying materials and sizes to fit any ear along with a clip to pin the wire to clothing or whatever. The headphones are very light and comfortable and the ear hooks conform well to your ears as opposed to your ear trying to conform to the headphones.

Listening.

After all that great stuff, I was a little disappointed with the sound. Mostly in the bass department where they are a bit lacking unless they were really plugged in which requires some experimenting with the large number of buds. The stock iphone headphones have more bass but lack the clarity of the Monster headphones and sound somewhat dull and boomy or over-saturated, to use a visual artists term. The Monsters are richer and more precise with a lot more detail. I really liked them for spoken word and audiobooks where they sound more natural and less booming so you have less fatigue.

So overall these are a mixed bag. I really want to give them a higher rating because they do sound crisp and clean and are very comfortable. I can see the effort that went into the design. Perhaps I am just spoiled and more used to the over the ear headphones with 50mm drivers giving a bigger sound. Still, those are my impressions.

I was very tempted to give these a four stars but the price without the bass ended up making it a three. They are good headphones, but not THAT good.

I was looking for some good noise isolating headphones to replace my Bose ie2's. Bose sound is great but they let all the other noise in compromising the experience at times. This was a new model and they made some bold claims on the packaging. I couldn't find any reviews but I took a chance anyway. Big mistake! These headphones are a complete joke. I paid $140 for them. I'd say they're worth about $40 at best. Other than the tangle free cord which is nice and the snug fit that does a decent job at isolating noise, these are about the same quality as the standard Apple headphones. I listened to like 5-7 songs going back and forth between the Bose and Monster's. I just couldn't believe they were this bad. I kept trying to adjust the positioning to give them a fair shot but nothing worked. There are no high points in terms of sound quality. The lows, miss, and highs were all weak.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program Monster is well-known for their high-priced but high-quality and stylish products. The Monster Inspiration In Ear Headphones (or earbuds, rather) are no exception to this. They feature a high build quality that should allow these headphones to last awhile, even with minor abuse. Like most earbuds in this price range, there are several different sizes of earbuds included so that you can achieve a perfect fit. The flat cable is a really nice feature to avoid tangles. Also, these buds have a light weight. You may not think much of this, but I've had a heavier set of earbuds previously and they were uncomfortable to wear for even a short period of time. That shouldn't be a problem with these Monsters. Finally, and most importantly, the sound quality is pretty good. I find them comparable to my Bose IE2 earbuds. They are crisp and clear, without overpowering bass. If you are concerned mostly with sound quality, these definitely beat most $10-20 earbuds. However, you probably could get similar sound quality in a $50-100 set of earbuds, hence you are paying a premium for the design and the brand name of this product.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I'm really impressed with these new Monsters. There's a large variety of tips for a good custom fit. The behind ear loops are comfortable and help keep the tips in place no matter my head position. The slim profile means I can wear them even laying on a pillow and they're still comfortable. The wiring are ribbons that help reduce cord tangle. The microphone and controls work well on my iPhone 5. Fidelity and sound reproduction are excellent across a wide variety of musical styles. I don't have anything negative to say about these guys except the premium Monster pricing.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program I've bought and compared dozens of Monster products over the years and usually end up with the same conclusion: The same quality can be had at a better price. But that was cables and adapters and the like. This is headphones. And they claim to have done something novel and extra with this product. I'm not a Monster hater, so I'm fine to report, these are good, noise cancelling, great sounding headphones. But again, I question what the premium price is for.

The packaging is impressive. The array of ear buds to choose from to get your correct size is impressive. These aren't items that should contribute to price though. So how the headphones perform? Very well. The in-line mic for use with iPhone works as expected and is a convenient feature to have on quality headphones. The over the ear part molds well to the ear to stay in and fairly tight, but it took several adjustments while I was running to keep them snug. I'd say with the added weight (and swinging) of the mic, these aren't running headphones.

I'll stick with my behind the head headphones for running and enjoy the sound quality of these for around the house or for travelling. My bottom line: Another good product that seems to have that "Monster Premium" associated with it.
