After using many different preamps, I needed to get one that had a built in crossover. My previous one that had this feature was an F1X, but I already have an F2B and an SMS Classic, the latter being the pinnacle of that particular design, so I wanted to try something different. The Navigator is a great addition to my collection and does a lot of really different tones and integrates really well with the other pres, so I can use the tonal shaping I'm used to and love on the SMS with the advanced features and more surgical EQ of the Navigator. I like the enhance knob, but like all the other controls, a little bit goes a long way. Some might find the extremes of the range of controls useful, but I doubt I'll be doing much more than a few notches in either direction.

Overall, the tone is very clear and clean. It seems to allow the sound of the bass come through without imprinting too much of its personality like some amps and pres do. While that can be a good thing, it can lock you into a certain tone. For instance, the Ampeg tone is a great classic sound, but it does one thing really well and can make other sounds hard to create. The Navigator can do warm and wooly, but it can also do a lot of other sounds as well. I also like the fact that it gives a great stage sound that translates really well to a recording. Having the various outputs also makes it easy to get the signal where it needs to go, and it seems to be quite noise free.

The build quality is not as solid feeling as some other products, but seems like with decent care it should last quite some time. I haven't popped the lid yet, but Eden has a reputation that has been getting better over the last few years after some reliability issues. My musical endeavors involve traveling, so I expect my gear to be able to withstand rattling around in trailers, the occasional airplane flight and daily loading in and out of venues with crews who may or may not treat things delicately. I don't foresee any problems.

Overall, I'd recommend this pre for everyone except those looking for the most thick, distorted tones. Of course, stomp boxes would probably get you there with the Navigator. If it were lost or stolen, I'd get another.

I've had my eye on this preamp for years. I finally decided to bite the bullet and get it. I should have bought it a long time ago. I've used a WT800 amp since 1996, but the WP100 takes it to the next level. Any bassist can plug-and-play through any amp, but to do so with Eden equipment misses out on the full range of tonal possibilities. I paired it with a Yorkville AP2020 amplifier and bi-amp through Eden D-410XLT and Eden D-115XLT cabinets. The nice thing about the WP100 is I can change amps for different applications and still have its full range of tone shaping features. For the discriminating bassist, it's the ultimate tone shaping tool.

I have several EDEN cabinets and I totally love them, and, I've had my eye on this pre-amp for many years to complete my EDEN rig... Well, I finally "bit the bullet" and picked one up and I don't regret it at all! I've tried, played on and used many different brands/kinds of amps, power amps, pre-amps, cabinets and combinations of amp/cabinets during my music career and from my experience... EDEN is golden! Their gold emblum is fitting IMO because everything EDEN makes is simply put, amazing! This pre-amp is no exception... Super versitile, great sound, awesome tone(s) both live and in the studio! It can generate just about any tone one is looking for... Punchy, growly, clean, funk, meaty distortion, cutting mids... Wow! In fact, if you can't get a good sound out of it, there's probably something wrong with your ears, or your instrument, or both! Personally, I'm using this pre-amp combined with a QSC RMX2450 to power a pair of EDEN cabinets... A 410XLT and a 212XLT. Lots of head space, and this rig can move some serious air! It's a beautiful thing when 2 "drop C tuned" death metal guitarists playing through "cranked" MESA "triple rec" half stacks are asking you to turn down the volume because you're drowning them out, lol, I love this rig! Anyway, I love the sound I am getting! In fact, I wish I would have picked up the Navigator when EDEN first came out with it way back when! Yes, EDEN gear is spendy, but the quality and tone is unmatched! I could go on and on about how awesome this thing is but I encourage you fellow bassists to buy it and try it for yourselves! If you've been thinking and dreaming about this pre-amp, stop waiting, stop dreaming and go pick one up... You'll be glad you did! I sure am!
